Feather Facelift
The "Feather Facelift" now available through Beautiful Holidays in Malaysia
More and more women, especially younger patients in the age group between 30 and 45 years who do not yet have much sagging because the elasticity of the skin is still good, are turning to new minimally invasive lifting procedures that entail smaller incisions that usually completely disappear after a few weeks.
The "Feather-Lift" is a non-surgical approach to facial lifting utilizing the patented "Aptos® threads". The safe procedure, taking approximately 30 minutes to an hour
depending on the number of areas being treated, is performed under local
anesthetics. The Feather lift does not leave any scars, requires no bandages and has
minimal down time. Aftercare usually involves ice packs on the treated area.
Beautiful Holidays now performs the feather lift and from what we have seen so far the results are very satisfactory and it certainly pursues the cosmetic surgery trend of "less is more".
The feather lift is not for everybody. Sometimes the drooping of the soft tissue of the face and neck is too severe and a mini or full facelift is required. The best results are seen on people who wish to improve their aesthetic contours, suffer from premature aging; suns damaged face and have some drooping of the soft tissue.
The drawing below indicates the areas that can be treated through a feather lift. For Beautiful Holidays to correctly assess the feather lift required, and give you an accurate quotation, we need a recent (digital) picture taken from the front and the side of the face. Please also indicate the areas you wish to be treated. Pricing is based on the number of Aptos threads that are required and starts at approximately 700 US$ onwards.

Botox Injection
' Smoothening the forehead, frown lines and laughing lines '
The latest technique to smoothen a furrow in the skin is to inject
it with Botox, instead of having a brow-lift, which involves surgery.
Botox is chemical, which causes a temporary paralysis of the muscles.
Precise injections are needed so that only the muscles, which cause
the frown lines, are paralyzed. Results are noticeable five days
after the injections and last for 3-6 months. During this time,
the muscles become smaller and less obvious because they are not
being used and wrinkles relax away. After a few treatments, some
people even learn to stop frowning. This procedure is done in the
clinic as an outpatient with minimum discomfort.
Collagen Injection
' Wrinkle filler '
This is an attractive idea to smoothen out wrinkles. Injections
of collagen can instantly reduce the appearance of nose-to-mouth
grooves, frown furrow, acne pits and depressed scars. It is an effective
procedure and is very popular in western countries.
What is collagen? It is a protein that is the main constituent of
skin, bones, muscles and ligaments. Cosmetic surgeons use a purified
form of treated collagen.
Because collagen is a foreign protein, a few people can develop
an allergic reaction to it, so, a trial injection in the arm is
given a month before the injection. Because of this problem, many
collagen substitutes are available now which are equally effective
and last as long as layer. Depending on how many wrinkles are to
be filled up, you may need more than one treatment.
A cream can be applied before the injection to reduce the pain of
injection. The injected areas can be swollen which will take a few
days to subside.
Being a foreign protein, collagen or collagen substitute slowly
gets dissolved in the body after 3-6 months or longer. So, you need
to go back for tops-ups, two or three times a year.
Cosmetic Laser Skin
Resurfacing
Aging, sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle factors including nutrition,
alcohol consumption and smoking all may contribute to facial wrinkling.
Pigment changes of the skin, such as blotchiness or brown spots,
may also occur with age or as a result of birth control pills, pregnancy
or genetic factors. Acne may have made the surface of your skin
uneven. These problems, as well as certain other skin conditions,
may be improved by skin resurfacing.
Cosmetic surgeons have performed skin resurfacing for years using
deep chemical peels and dermabrasion (sanding) procedures. These
methods were very painful and often resulted in less than satisfactory
results. Laser resurfacing was introduced several years ago with
CO2 (carbon dioxide) lasers. Although this laser often provides
very good results, patients usually require full anesthesia due
to intense pain generated by a CO2 laser procedure. Patients must
further suffer through a very long and uncomfortable healing process,
lasting up to six months, and complications such as pigmentation
and prolonged redness were common side effects. The Erbium laser
was introduced as a fresh new alternative to existing laser resurfacing
technique, and the result is comparable to CO2 laser with much lower
complication rate.
What can Erbium laser do for me?
The Erbium laser has been designed to remove or noticeably decrease
wrinkles and to improve the overall colour and skin texture of the
face, neck and hands. Although the treatment will vary depending
on various considerations, with few expectations, you can expect
an improvement in the texture and quality of your skin.
Is the Erbium laser like other lasers I've heard about for
skin resurfacing?
You may have heard about CO2 laser for skin resurfacing. Although
the result may be very good, patients experience a great amount
of pain requiring full anesthesia for the treatment ad usually take
a very long time to heal. The Erbium laser offers the benefits of
less pain during treatment and recovery along with significantly
faster healing times than other resurfacing lasers, at the same
time, complications such as pigmentation and prolonged redness are
much lower.
How does laser skin resurfacing work?
Laser light is absorbed by water in your skin cells. The absorption
in turn causes the destruction of the cells. As the laser light
passes over your skin, a mere 30 millionth of an inch of tissues
is removed at a time. This incredible control allows your cosmetic
surgeon to treat a range of skin complaints, from removing wrinkles
to merely refreshing your overall skin appearance. After the damaged
skin is removed, new skin quickly re grows in its place.
Does it hurt?
The level of discomfort is different for every person and also varies
by the location and surface area to be treated. Many patients do
not request any pain medication during treatment and relate the
discomforts as comparable to sunburn. Other patients will appreciate
a topical or more extensive anesthetic. After the treatment, you
may require some medication to relieve the discomfort.
How long will the healing process take?
Of course, everyone will heal at various rates depending on the
treatment, the particular areas treated and your own healing rate.
Noticeable results are typically seen in a few days, with complete
healing in only 2 weeks. Light resurfacing around the eyes and lips
in general takes only a few days. Most patients can be treated before
the weekend and be almost completely healed by the following Monday.
Areas further away from your face, such as the hands, may take a
little longer to heal.
How do I take care of my skin immediately
after treatment?
Depending on your specific treatment, your cosmetic surgeon will
prescribe detailed skin care instructions. To avoid the risk of
inflection and to ensure positive results, please follow these instructions
carefully. After you have healed, you will need to continually protect
your new skin. In the early weeks and months following treatment,
your skin will be very susceptible to sun damage. If at all possible,
avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. If you must be in the sun for
a short while, please use sunscreens recommended by your physician.
Are there any complications with laser resurfacing?
Although the Erbium laser has substantially reduced many of the
risks associated with laser procedures, infection, temporary or
rarely permanent pigmentary changes, even scarring or other unsatisfactory
results can occur, especially when performed by untrained hands.
As with any medical procedure, be certain to thoroughly discuss
any questions or concerns you may have your cosmetic surgeon.
