Sun, Sea and Silicone 22nd April 2004
press release

British Television station Sky One Films in Penang for 4 weeks following 4 British girls undergoing surgery through Beautiful Holidays.
With cosmetic surgery ever on the increase, Sun, Sea & Silicone follows four English girls who don’t know each other, but have one thing in common - they all want the body beautiful. Looking for a lasting solution leads them on an exotic trip to the Malaysian island of Penang with Beautiful Holidays, a company specializing in cosmetic surgery.
Many in the UK still regard cosmetic surgery as a largely American indulgence, but with more operations than ever taking place, plastic surgery is no longer confined to the rich and famous. Procedures that were once considered taboo - from boob jobs to facelifts - have now become not only acceptable, but also desirable.
Jo, Kerry, Natasha and Sandra are all looking for the ultimate solution to their body issues. Each one has the same long-term goal to change the way they look and feel about themselves, but only time will tell whether their trip to Penang to undergo surgery will end in long-lasting friendships and cosmetic enhancements, or turn out to be as false as fake tan.

Sun, Sea & Silicone follows the girls from leaving home, through the details of their surgery and into recovery - laying under the knife and under the sun, healing their newly trimmed and super-styled bodies and showing them off downing ‘Flaming Lamborghini’s’ in the hot spots of Penang such as Soho’s and Lush.

But smiles soon begin to fade when cracks in their relationships begin to surface. The girls may have been transformed on the outside, but will their newly formed friendships last the distance?

Sun, Sea & Silicone is a two part series made for Sky One by At It Productions. Producer/Director is Graciela Watson, Executive Producers for At It are Martin Cunning and Chris Fouracre and Jamie Roberts is Executive Producer for Sky.

Sun, Sea & Silicone can be seen exclusively on Sky One on Wednesday 19 & 26 May at 10.00 pm.
