Boob jobs in the sun

Meet the three women who went on a three-week holiday to the tropical east for Sky One and came back with an unusual souvenir – a new pair of breasts each

Jo, 35

“I feel the sexiest I’ve ever been.”

For Jo Day, all that was standing between her and her pole-dancing dreams were her long, saggy breasts. “To me, they resembled hound dog ears.” she laughs. “I used to be a pert 34B and could wear anything I like. But after two kids, everything went south. I found them disgusting to look at.”

Yet after coming out of a long relationship, Jo found herself on a journey of self-discovery. She started pole dancing as a form of exercise and got herself a new image: “I bought new clothes, had hair extensions and I thought: “Why not have new boobs too?””

At the clinic in Penang, Malaysia, the surgeon suggested Jo also have a nipple lift because her breasts had sagged too much. “I hadn’t considered it before as I was worried about losing nipple sensation,” she admits. “But I put my faith in the surgeon. It meant he cut out the nipples, then inserted the implants through the incision. The implants were put directly on top of the chest muscle to give me a bigger lift.”

As soon as Jo came out of surgery, she couldn’t resist a peek at her new 34D boobs. “I was thrilled,” she enthuses. “OK, for the first two days it felt like I was carrying around sacks of cement. It wasn’t a deep, throbbing pain – more like I’d taken a nasty bang to the chest. Now, though, I feel the sexiest I’ve ever been.”

“ I’m not shy about my boobs any more,” she grins. “I can take my bra off and they stay in the same place. I want to show them off.”

It’s given Jo the incentive she needed to continue her pole dancing – she’s even installed her own pole here at the family home in Hereford. “Before the surgery I’d never have contemplated taking my top off,” she admits. “Now I’d consider working for someone like Peter Stringfellow – if the money was right.”

Sandra, 32

“There was a 50 per cent chance my nipples would fall off.”

Recovering in the sun was torture for actress Sandra Spencer after she underwent five hours of major surgery to reduce her 36FF boobs to a shapely D-cup. “I was cut from left to right all the way across,” she explains. “People don’t realize just what a major operation breast reduction is. Afterwards, I was totally restricted in what I could do. I’m a water baby and to be in Malaysia and not be able to swim was killing me.”

But it was a small price to pay after her chest grew from a 36D to a hefty 36FF – a side effect, she says, of having polycystic ovaries. “This op wasn’t about vanity. I had neckache, backache and chest pains and they were hindering my career chances. To be a leading lady and go to premieres wearing strappy cocktail dresses, you can’t have humongous boobs. I wanted nice, pert boobs that don’t fall to the side.”

“ At castings, my boobs would dominate things. They’d poke out from under my bra, so I’d have to wear black tops, three bras and a jacket to cover them up. I had to get them fixed so I could take my acting career to the highest level.”
But in the Penang clinic surgeons warned Sandra that as this was her second breast reduction – the first was after the birth of her son 10 years ago – there were risks. “There was a 50 per cent chance my nipples would drop off
because this was the second time they’d have to cut them off and move them. I was worried, but the surgeon had a calming influence on me.”

“They cut from the armpit straight to the centre of the breast, then down from the nipple to underneath the bust and around the nipple,” says Sandra, from Essex. “He had to take out glands; muscle tissue and fat, then reconnect the nerve endings so I’d still have sensation in my nipples.”

At the end of the procedure, surgeons had removed 750g of fat and Sandra was over the moon. “Three months on, the scarring is nearly all gone,” she says. “It’s good for people to see what sort of journey I went on. It’s not the same as breast augmentation – it’s major surgery.”

“ My new boobs are wonderful. They make me feel more youthful and my agent is casting me in funkier roles. Instead of always playing a social worker, I could now be a young mum in a Persil ad.”

Natasha, 27

“Two days after the op I was on a beach sunbathing.”

Footie fan Natasha Turkington hoped having bigger boobs would help her dreams of becoming a footballer’s wife. And just days after having her ‘droopy’ 34B cleavage increased to a curvy 34D, she was chatted up by a member of the Penang soccer team.

“ It’s proof that men prefer big boobs,” she grins. “I’m football mad. I’d love to be a footballer’s wife and go shopping, do lunch and of course, go to the football. I was introduced to Boris, an Australian who’s a midfielder for the Penang team. It was very flattering. I’m still in that novelty stage of wanting to get my cleavage out. When I catch my reflection in the mirror it gives me a huge confidence boost.”

Natasha’s desire for a bigger bust came after she split from her boyfriend and found she was embarrassed about getting undressed in front of a new man. “My boobs were insignificant and unshapely,” she admits. “The surgeon called them droopy, I wanted them done, but in the UK you’re looking at £3,500 and I don’t have that kind of money. Instead, I got it at a fraction of the cost – partly because of the TV show – and got to go on a three-week holiday too.

“ My only worry was if the surgeon was qualified and the levels of hygiene. But his confidence gave me confidence. There was only one moment when I felt vulnerable, just before I was wheeled in for surgery. I thought, “Where are all my family?” But the nurses held my hand, joked with me and never left my side. They kept my spirits up and were amazing.
“ Two days after the operation I was on a beach sunbathing. I had no complications. I was in and out of surgery in 45 minutes. It takes longer to have a wisdom tooth out.”

Now Natasha, from Nottinghamshire, is thrilled with her natural-looking bust. The only problem is she wants them bigger. “I had 300g implants in each breast, but I wish I’d had 400g because they’ve dropped since. But if I had 400g, would I now want the 500g? It does become addictive.”

“ One thing’s for sure – I’ll have no problem getting undressed in the light again. In fact, the lighter the better,” she grins.
