COSMETIC-SURGERY HOLIDAY IN PENANG

RECENTLY, a film crew filmed four women from Britain on their cosmetic-surgery holiday in Penang in a made-for-TV series titled Sun, Sea and Silicone, for British cable Sky.

Here, Marloes Giezenaar, managing director of the company which arranged for the holiday packages, tells in detail of the surgeries done by the four girls Jo, Natasha, Sandra and Kerry.

"Sandra had a breast reduction surgery. Patients who have breast reduction surgery frequently sought relief from physical symptoms caused by the excessive weight of large breasts. Breast reduction can solve these problems as well as improve the size and shape of the breasts.

"Sandra's main reason for having this surgery was to release the strain on her back; the surgeon removed a total of 1.2 litres of breast tissue. The scar is around the nipple, a vertical scar below the nipple and a transverse scar along the breast fold below. The scar will fade over time. This is considered a major breast reduction, and requires a longer time to recover. Sandra stayed in Penang for three week.

"Natasha and Kerry had a breast augmentation surgery. Many women choose to have their breasts enlarged in order to satisfy their own desire for a fuller bust line. Your breast may not have developed to a size that meets your expectations, or one breast may be smaller than the other. You may have been happy with your breasts in the past but feel that they look different now.

"Often, after weight loss, childbirth or as a result of aging, the breasts lose volume and their shape changes. "Kerry wanted a breast size that fits her figure better. She went from an A cup to a B cup and chose to have 175cc implants of silicone under the muscle.

"Natasha wanted a large breast size. She went from a small B to a large D cup and had 300cc implants of silicone on the muscle.

"Jo had a breast augmentation combined with a breast lift. After having two children and losing a lot of weight recently, her breasts were sagging. A breast augmentation would have made Jo's breasts looked awkward, as the nipple would be too low and the implant might create a 'double' breast.

"The breast lift (Mastopexy) involves lifting up the nipple, pulling up the breast tissue and reducing the amount of skin. The need for a breast lift combined with an implant is usually suitable for women in their mid-30s and above who have had children or recently have lost weight recently. "Jo went from a B cup to a very large D cup and had 300cc implants of silicone on the muscle combined with a mastopexy."
